Hi, it’s Mia!

I have been passionate about being a curly hair specialist since my first day of hairdressing school over 20 years ago. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to studying curls and developing a specialized niche.

I graduated from Ricci’s Academy of Hair Design (now Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy) in Newtown, CT, and pursued advanced training at the Matrix Academy in NYC. Following extensive research and coursework, I became a certified curl specialist at Christo 5th Avenue in NYC, where I trained alongside Christo and earned certification in his Diametrix cutting technique. I also hold a certification in the Rezo technique and studied alongside Nubia herself.

Over the years, I have integrated my continuing education to develop a unique approach to cutting curly hair. I customize my technique for every client—whether cutting dry, wet, or a combination of both—to ensure your curls look their best.

I am passionate about teaching you how to care for your specific curl pattern and recommending the right products for your needs. When I’m not behind the chair, I am constantly learning to stay at the forefront of the industry. The health of your hair is my top priority, and I believe that combining a great cut with the right products and at-home techniques is the key to perfect curls.

Curly Cut With Mia - Certified Curlisto Master Specialist

Starting at $250

Depending on your curl texture and length I may start your cut dry then wet or vice versa. Please allow 2.5-3 hours for this initial appointment. I will do a thorough consultation, your personalized curly cut, shampoo, deep condition or K18 treatment, style and dry fully either by diffusing or sitting you under the dryer. I may do some dry cutting after it's fully dry too if need be.

To help you get the best curly cut for your curls and also the best overall experience, please do the following.

*Please arrive with your hair in a freshly styled state that accurately represents how you usually style it.

*Please wash (with clarifying shampoo if you have a lot of product build up), style, and fully dry your hair within 24 hours of your appointment so that I can give you the best and most accurate cut for your specific curls. It's very important for me to see how you do your own hair and how your curls fall. I need to have the option to start your cut dry and finish wet or vice versa.

Please do not arrive with your hair in a ponytail or bun, these will disrupt your natural curl pattern.

*If you are also receiving color, please just follow the above guidelines so I have the option to cut first if I decide to.

I’ve been going to Mia for about 4 years and I’ve NEVER wore my hair down or enjoyed having curly hair until she took care of my hair. She’s honest with sharing what needs to be improved on, how will we get there, if you need/don’t need something, Which I really appreciate. I basically just do whatever she tells me because I know she’d never steer me wrong. Recently, she also started doing my highlights and shared the ins and outs of the strength of products that we need to use, color scheme, how changing products to something gentler as curly hair is more sensitive will help me get my hair in a healthier state. Always up front about cost, although for me it doesn’t stop me from getting what I need because again, would never steer me wrong and it’s SO worth it!
